Frequently asked questions

An AFN Registered Nutritionist is a professional registered with the Association for Nutrition in the UK, holding a degree or equivalent in nutrition science, and adhering to the AFN's high standards for nutritional competence and ethical conduct.
On the other hand, a Dietitian is a regulated healthcare professional, required to complete a specialised degree in dietetics, which includes extensive clinical training. Dietitians are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are legally entitled to assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems at both individual and public health levels.
While both professionals are highly educated, the key differences lie in their regulatory status and scope of practice, with dietitians having statutory regulation and a broader clinical authority to treat patients.

The duration of nutrition coaching can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. During our initial call, we'll discuss the level of accountability you require and outline a programme structured in phases tailored to your specific objectives. I offer a variety of packages designed to meet different needs, so we can choose the one that best fits your situation.
-
No, I am not able to diagnose or treat eating disorders. If I suspect that you might have an eating disorder, I would advise you to reach out to a specialised psychologist or dietitian who is trained to handle such conditions. They have the necessary expertise to provide the appropriate care and support.
-
No, I do not provide strict meal plans. My focus is on education and empowering you with the knowledge and tools needed to master your eating habits independently.
By the end of the programme, you will have the skills to make informed food choices without relying on strict meal plans. I offer suggestions, meal ideas, and models of balanced plates, along with ingredients lists and shopping lists.
Sometimes, I may provide macros and calorie targets to guide you, but there is flexibility for you to choose and create meals that you enjoy and that fit your preferences, including cultural foods or specific tastes.
This approach helps you adapt to a healthier lifestyle while accommodating your unique dietary needs and preferences.

During our free discovery call, we'll have the opportunity to get to know each other and determine if we're a good fit for pursuing nutrition coaching together. If we decide to move forward, you'll be asked to complete a detailed form. This form will cover essential information such as your medical history, any allergies you have, your diet history, and your lifestyle habits. I'll also ask you to keep a three-day food diary so I can gain a better understanding of your current eating habits.
In our first consultation, we'll focus on reviewing and discussing the information you provided in the form and the food diary. This discussion will help us to start the goal-setting process.
We'll work together to create a clear vision of what you aim to achieve and plan the steps we need to take to get there. We'll also consider potential obstacles and engage in exercises designed to assist us in navigating these challenges.
